About

Welcome y’all,

I am a young poet and creative nonfiction writer. You can call me m.d. (lowercase to avoid confusion with the academic degree). I am currently a junior in college studying literature and creative writing. Astudyincrimson serves as a platform for me to share my recent creative essays, poems, and projects. I have the scaffolding of a plan to begin an Instagram page at the end of the summer, so I’ll let you know how that turns out.😉

My writing, dripping autobiographical, dallies between image poetry, ekphrastic writing, and verse ‘portraits’ of people dear to me. I strive to capture beauty and participate in God’s divine redemption plan as a sub-creator with Him. Nonetheless, this is a space for everyone, and I am ready to listen. Comments, feedback, and constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated.

The 2017-2018 category consists of the high school assignments from which this blog began. I keep them as a reminder of my decision to be a writer. I have been published in Vol. 003 of Shards of Light, creative arts journal by John Brown University. In addition, I have submission plans for several poems and a long-form creative nonfiction work.

Please peruse, ponder, and enjoy. In the words of poet and professor Jacob Stratman, “what I have I offer with two hands.”*

m.d.

The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.
